Skills to Advance is a highly subsidised national initiative delivered by SOLAS and Ireland’s network of 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs). It helps employers upskill teams, improve processes, cut costs, and boost competitiveness through flexible in-person, online, or blended courses scheduled around business operational needs. Course offerings cover emerging and key sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, AI, digital business, sustainability, robotics, and market development.
The initiative includes Further Education and Training (FET) micro-qualifications, bite-sized, accredited programs developed with industry partners to address rapidly transforming skill areas. These short courses require roughly 50 hours of combined tutor and self-directed learning. Delivered locally by ETBs nationwide, these affordable qualifications continuously expand with new programs in development.
